The University of South Florida College of Education offers a variety of resources to assist our students in preparing for the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE), including in-person tutoring, online modules, and virtual and in-person  style boot camps. Our dedicated faculty and staff are always working to develop additional test preparation resources to increase student success!

USF Counseling Center

We understand that preparing for and taking the exams such as the General Knowledge Test (GKT) can be stressful. USF offers helpful services for test anxiety that can teach you relaxation and focusing techniques, resulting in higher test scores! Check out the services available at the USF Counseling Center

Practice Tests

It is important to identify which concepts on the exam are those you should spend time preparing for as that will help focus your attention on where you can make the biggest impact. Visit the Florida Teacher Certification Exam website to take a practice test.

Test Information Guides are provided by the Florida Department of Education for self-study test preparation. These guides include a practice test, which allows you to utilize your score to determine what areas you need to study. Visit the Florida Department of Education website to learn more about the percentage of correct questions needed to pass each exam.

Learning Liaisons Resource for Teacher Certification Exam Preparation

As part of your preparation for Florida Teacher Certification Examinations, you may wish to use additional study resources to support your exam readiness. One available resource is Learning Liaisons, which provides preparation materials for several Florida Teacher Certification Exams. Please note that the College of Education is not purchasing Learning Liaisons subscriptions for students at this time. If you choose to use this resource, the cost will be your responsibility. Learning Liaisons is currently offering a 50% discount for USF students through this page. Students are encouraged to review available exam preparation resources and select the options that best meet their individual needs. Additional information and official guidance will also be shared on the USF College of Education Teacher Certification webpage. Please contact your advisor or program coordinator if you have questions about certification exam requirements for your program.

Online Test Preparation with the iTeach Professional Learning Program

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology has developed a series of online, self-paced test prep courses that are specifically designed to help prepare you to take the Professional Education and the General Knowledge: Reading, Math, English Language Skills and Essay subtests on the Florida Teacher Certification Exam. Each course contains a study guide, two practice exams, and additional practice questions for each competency and every skill assessed on the FTCE Professional Education and General Knowledge Test. 

There is a 50 percent discount on course registration fees for USF students. Contact your academic advisor for more information.
