IMSE Graduate Certificates
IMSE Technology Management
USF’s Graduate Certificate in Technology Management, offered fully online by the Depart-ment of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering, is for those with technical back-grounds who wish to move into management.
This certificate program teaches students how to combine qualitative approaches with quantitative methods resulting in a strengthening of engineer-ing credentials and the development of managerial competency.
The curriculum includes coursework that covers finance, human relations, project management, quality control, operations and marketing. Up to 12 hours of graduate certificate coursework may be applied toward a graduate degree program with departmental approval.
Course Requirements (15 Semester Hours)
This fully online graduate certificate consists of two required courses and three electives. Students pursuing a graduate certificate will be required to meet the same academic requirements as those defined for degree-seeking students to remain in good standing.
Required courses (6 credit hours):
- EIN 5182 - Principles of Engineering Management (3)
- EIN 6386 - Management of Technological Change(3)
Elective courses (9 credit hours):
Select three courses from the following list:
- ESI 6410 – Optimization methods with Apps (3)
- EIN 5350 - Technology and Finance (3)
- EIN 6108 - Human Relations (3)
- EIN 6319 - Work Design & Productivity Engr. (3)
- EIN 5174 - TQM Concepts (3)
- EIN 6336 - Production Control Systems (3)
- EIN 6145 - Project Management (3)
Admission/Application Requirements

- Official transcripts
- A resume
- A 250-word letter of interest stating your objectives in pursuing this course of study
Standardized Test Requirements
Standardized tests are not required.

All students who wish to pursue approved graduate certificates must be admitted to a corresponding area of study before a second graduate certificate course is completed.
These graduate certificate courses may be applied to a Master of Science in Engineering Management degree con-tingent upon departmental approval. The department also offers graduate certificates in Total Quality Management, Data Analytics and Systems Engineering.
