Eduardo Baez-Toro
Eduardo Baez Toro is currently member of the Supply Chain organization where he holds the position of Vice President of Global Asset Management for Depuy-Synthes, J&J. In this role, Eduardo’s is responsible for the E2E optimization of the Loaned and Consigned Orthokits globally. He is also member of the UnidosUS Corporate Advisory Board, member of the City College of NY Experiential Learning Advisory Board and Co-Chair of Hispanic Organization for Leadership & Achievement (HOLA) for J&J.
Prior to this role, Eduardo held the position of Vice President of Global Distribution Operations. In this role, Eduardo’s responsibilities included WW Engineering, Introduction of New Products, Performance Management, Temperature Control processes, Safety and Environmental, Business Continuity and Implementation of the Johnson and Johnson Operating System for the distribution centers across the globe.
Eduardo joined Johnson & Johnson in 1991 as 2nd shift Production Supervisor at LifeScan, P.R. During his career, Eduardo has held roles of increasing responsibilities including Materials Planner, Warehousing Supervisor, Lean/Strategic Planner, Manufacturing Manager, Engineering Manager, Plant Manager and WW Manufacturing Director. In 2008, he took on an international assignment in Zug, Switzerland to lead the WW manufacturing function with sites in California, Scotland, and Puerto Rico. In addition to his manufacturing leadership role, he led the Operations Strategy development work that included manufacturing plants startup, network (“foot print”) optimization, and cost improvement strategies. Once he completed his international assignment was promoted to of Vice President of Product Management for Diabetes Care Franchise. In this role, Eduardo’s responsibilities included: introduction of New Products, Lifecycle Management of ongoing products in the market, Automation and Scalability of new processes, Global Packaging and Labeling as well as End to End Management of the Diabetes Care Supply Chain.
Eduardo has provided exemplary leadership throughout his career at Johnson and Johnson. His success has made him recipient of various recognitions in the industry sector. Among them: Industrialist of the Year by the Puerto Rico Industrial Association (PRMA) and the same recognition by the Sales and Marketing Association of P.R and the Southwestern Industrial Association (SWIA), which he became President in 2004-2006. While managing the LifeScan manufacturing sites in Puerto Rico he was recognized by Corporate Johnson & Johnson for his leadership in Occupational Safety. Eduardo was also a part-time Industrial Engineering Professor at the Mayagüez Campus of the University of P.R.
Eduardo is the father of Eduardo, Diego and Andres and is married to Esther who also an Industrial Engineer. He holds a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, and a Master in Industrial Engineering with a Major in Quality Control & Assurance and a minor in Production and Logistics from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA.
