International Student Travel Abroad

Register yOUR tRAVEL

International students traveling abroad for USF-related academic activities must register their travel with USF World.

If participating in an organized Student Related Travel (SRT) group, use the registration link provided specifically for that group. Do not submit a separate Independent or Express application. If traveling independently, use the appropriate Independent or Express application.

Travel registration is separate from any required authorization through iStart. Check visa and reentry requirements with the Office of International Services.

International students returning to their home country for qualifying academic activities may be eligible for Express Travel Registration regardless of trip duration. Confirm any academic credit arrangements with your department. Personal travel unrelated to USF activities generally does not require USF World travel registration, but immigration and reentry requirements may still apply.

To find out more visit the iStart home page, contact the Office of International Services, or email GlobalTravel@usf.edu.

Know the Visa Requirements

Every country has different requirements for entry depending on the passport being used by the traveler. Contact the consulate or Embassy of the destination country to verify visa requirements and processing times.

An academic experience in your home country

International Students seeking an educational opportunity in their home country, which they would like to have credited towards some aspect of their USF degree, are responsible for making those arrangements with the appropriate academic department. All credit-bearing activity must also register your travel with the University’s travel registry.

International students will be covered by USF Global Health and Security Insurance while engaged in the educational experience in their home country. Please refer to the Insurance page for more information.

When not to register your travel

If you are not participating in an activity related to your status as a student at USF, not on a USF department Travel Request, and not using any USF funds, such as research money or scholarships, you do not need to register. International Students should verify with International Services before travel to make sure their visa status is up to date.
