Sponsorships

University funds should not be used for fund raising events.  Funds from USF Foundation are the preferred option for these types of sponsorships, however unrestricted auxillary funds can be used.

Generally E&G (State/University Funds) can be used for a sponsorship.  However, the sponsorship must be related to education, research or public service.

Often sponsoring an event includes some form of advertisement/promotion for USF.  The commodity code used would be dependent upon the services being offered to USF in exchange for the sponsorship.

e.x. The event host is offering USF (as the sponsor) a banner display in a physical location. The department will use the most appropriate advertising commodity code to categorize the services being received.

Some common exemptions to competition associated with sponsorships are:

  • Advertising purchase in accordance with USF Regulation Number USF4.02010(IV)(A)(3)(k)
  • Purchase of Conference & Event Services from Grant funding in accordance with USF Regulation Number USF4.02010(IV)(A)(3)(n)
  • Purchase specified by granting agency in accordance with USF Regulation Number USF4.02010(IV)(A)(3)(o)
