Social work assistant professor receives grant to further HIV-related research

During the 2022 International AIDS Conference in Montreal, Canada, Jerome Galea, PhD, MSW, RCSWI, assistant professor in the School of Social Work, was awarded $150,000 through the Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) Grant Programme.

CIPHER provides a unique opportunity for early-stage investigators to address research gaps in pediatric and adolescent HIV in resource-limited settings and promote evidence-based HIV policies and programs. His project, "Development and pilot testing of an optimized conversational agent or 'chatbot' for Peruvian adolescents living with HIV to facilitate mental health screening, education, self-help, and linkage to care,” was among three CIPHER grants selected from over 100 submissions.
