Cassia Kranz, a student in the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program, received the Scotia Knouff Line Officer Award from the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA).

The Line Officer of the Year Award is the APPA’s most prestigious and competitive honor for community corrections officers actively serving in the field. It recognizes those who perform their duties in an outstanding manner or make significant contributions to the profession at the local, regional, or national level.

"It’s very interesting to come in contact with so many different agencies and community resource members sharing the same ideas, values, and experiences," Kranz said. "I am deeply honored to receive this national award."

APPA serves as the leading professional membership association in the field of community corrections, with members throughout the U.S., Canada, and other countries. Its membership includes those at all levels of government and the private sector, such as community corrections professionals, service providers, librarians and educators, research students, volunteers, concerned citizens, corporations, public policy advocates, and others with an interest in criminal and juvenile justice.
