Claire Dorey, AuD, CCC-A, a doctoral student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, was accepted into the highly competitive Biology of Hearing and Balance course at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, this summer.
During the three-week course, Dorey gained experience with bench methodologies that otherwise would not have been part of her doctoral program. The training introduced her to new skill sets across several models used in auditory neuroscience.
Dorey also had the opportunity to connect with a small cohort of peers and leading senior scientists in her field.
“This experience was one of the most important and comprehensive training experiences of my career,” Dorey said. “I left the MBL with new research questions and feeling more prepared for my future as a translational bench-to-bedside researcher.”
