Discovery of first St. Patrick’s Day leads to museum exhibition on the Irish in Florida
USF historian J. Michael Francis’ discovery that the world’s first documented St. Patrick’s Day procession took place in 1600 in St. Augustine inspired a new exhibition exploring the early Irish diaspora in East Florida. Now on display at the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center through April 30, the exhibit features animated stories, archival documents, and a 3D reconstruction of colonial St. Augustine.
