SOS & SOCAT
The office of Student Outreach & Support (SOS) at the University of South Florida Tampa campus, is a student-first direct care coordination team that assists students manage stress and reduce barriers that impact their academic success and overall health and wellness.
SOS works in partnership with Student of Concern Assistance Team (SOCAT). SOCAT is an interdisciplinary team concerned with the wellbeing of all students and is committed to creating an environment that is safe for learning and development. Together SOS and SOCAT collaborate to support students in need of support.
Student Outreach and Support (SOS)
The office of Student Outreach & Support (SOS) at the University of South Florida Tampa campus, is a student-first direct care management team that supports students in managing stress that impacts their academics and overall health and wellness.
The primary goal of support from our office is assist the student in mitigating stress that restricts their full potential while fostering individual growth and self-advocacy.
SOS Support Coordinators:
- Meet with students to;
- identify strengths and needs
- assess for risk or threats
- understand the students perspective for advocacy
- Collaborate with students to develop an action plan for success. This plan can include;
- coordinating referral linkage with appropriate on/off campus support services
- letters of support
- professor communication
Student of Concern Assistance Team (SOCAT)
SOCAT is USF's Tampa campus Behavioral Intervention Team. Operating as an administrative, interdisciplinary team that assesses referrals, collaborates with the SOS team to develop action plans for success, and monitors red flag behaviors and concerning trends across the campus community.
