Nik Lampe receives the 2026 University of Tampa Young Alumni Award

Nik M. Lampe, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Behavioral Health Science and Practice, was presented the 2026 Young Alumni Award by the University of Tampa (UTampa) Alumni Association at the university's alumni awards dinner May 8, 2026.

The Young Alumni Award recognizes early-career UTampa alumni for outstanding professional achievements, service and impact within their profession or civic involvement. Lampe earned a doctorate from the University of Tampa in 2016.

Lampe's research focuses on the structural drivers of health and health care disparities affecting medically underserved communities. Their work centers on older adults, people living with dementia and family caregivers in Florida. Since joining USF in 2023, Lampe has secured more than $675,000 in grant funding, with research published in leading academic journals including the American Journal of Public Health, Social Science & Medicine and Alzheimer’s & Dementia.

With support from Florida Opioid Settlement Funds, Lampe currently serves as lead program evaluator for Live Tampa Bay’s Supporting Seniors Pilot Program, which aims to reduce opioid overdoses and overdose-related deaths among older adults in the Tampa Bay metropolitan area.

In addition to their research and professional work, Lampe remains actively involved with UTampa through service on the Board of Counselors and as an advisor and preceptor for the Applied Sociology Undergraduate Program.
