ResearchOne
ResearchOne funding applications are now open for the 2022-2023 fiscal year! In collaboration with our ResearchOne sponsors, The Florida High Tech Corridor and Smith & Hopen, Research & Innovation offers the opportunity to apply for funding up to $1,000 for research-related events held virtually or at a USF venue. A department’s conference series is eligible to apply once per semester. ResearchOne funding may be used for event expenses such as Video Production, Online Livestream Platform, Printing, Speaker Honoraria and Travel, Supplies, Advertising, and Poster Board Rental.

Special Opportunity Research Funds are available for time-sensitive requests for research funds. Thus, there are no deadlines for submitting these requests. These funds are not meant to supplant departmental or individual RIA account support.

CBCS Internal Award Program Opportunities
CBCS Internal Award Grant - opens each Fall term
The purpose of this initiative is to provide support for CBCS faculty research that will strengthen an application for a federal grant. The proposal emulates a shortened version of a federal grant, but specifies how the proposed work will fill a need for preliminary data that will strengthen a future grant application. Thus, the Internal Grant Program (IGP) is intended to provide seed funding for research projects that show promise for external sponsored research funding. The CBCS will provide funds from $5,000 up to a maximum amount of $20,000 for this initiative. Amounts will be determined based on the applicant’s justification, other sources of funding, and the availability of college funds. IGP Awardees are expected to submit at least one full proposal to an external federal funding agency, national foundation, or industrial source before re-applying to the IGP. Evidence of applying for external funding includes a copy of the submitted proposal with receipt from the funding agency or, when applicable, a letter of intent to the funding agency.
CBCS International Collaboration Grant - Fall and Spring cycles
This program is designed to provide financial support for scholarly activities by the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences (CBCS) faculty at major universities, research institutes, government agencies, and professional conferences/workshops. This grant opportunity is designed to provide targeted support for faculty travel that is directly related to future or current sponsored research grant applications or significant publications. Priority will be given to planned efforts to develop international research collaborations. The CBCS will provide funds up to a maximum amount of $2,000 for this initiative depending on the location of the travel (international versus domestic). This grant is intended to promote innovative interdisciplinary research with international research centers or groups and facilitate access to important resources (data, expertise, equipment) needed to enhance the competitiveness of research grant applications and/or scholarly dissemination by CBCS faculty. This grant is NOT meant to a substitute for other USF or CBCS grants, but may be combined to cover costs of international travel. The intended areas of support of this grant include but are not limited to:
- Travel that involves interactions with researchers from other countries that has the
potential to develop collaborative relationships with proposed activities that are
likely to lead to a sponsored grant application, such as:
- Travel to present research/learn about related research of potential collaborators
- Travel to gather or access data to be used for a preliminary or feasibility study
- Travel to attend a workshop on a subject needed for a future proposal
- International collaborators visit to campus to facilitate a research initiative
- Although travel may be in conjunction with presentations at major national or international
conferences, this should be secondary to forming research collaborations. The type
of presentation, the prestige and scope of the conference will be considered, as well
as the plan for identifying potential collaborators.
- Other international scholarly activities deemed valuable by the CBCS Research Council.
