Conial Caldwell, Jr., MPA, MSW is a Visiting Instructor at the School of Social Work
within the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences (CBCS) at the University of
South Florida (USF). He earned a Bachelor's in Social Work (BSW) from Florida A&M
University (FAMU); a Masters's in Applied Social Science with a concentration in Public
Administration from FAMU; and a Master's in Social Work (MSW) from the University
of South Florida (USF). He is currently a doctoral candidate within Louisiana State
University's School of Social Work. Conial's research focuses on the effects of racism
on parenting practices of Black fathers, specifically exploring racial socialization
practices such as "The Talk." Other research interest includes culturally competence,
family dynamics, civic engagement, and social justice.
Prior to joining the faculty at USF, Conial served as the Director of Student Conduct
at Southern University and A&M College (Baton Rouge) where he implemented restorative
justice practices at the University.
