Omar Ali

Omar Ali earned his undergraduate and graduate degree in social work from the University of South Florida. His professional experience includes work as a licensed clinician at a children’s Baker Act receiving facility providing therapeutic services and crisis intervention for children and adolescents. Omar developed his passion for social work based on personal life experiences and volunteering at multiple non-profit organizations within the Tampa Bay community. He has always had a passion for being of service to others. Omar is excited to join the USF Social Work PhD program to advance his skill set in become a leading voice in research for children’s mental health treatment. As a doctorate student, Omar plans to focus his research on examining the impact of childhood trauma on lifespan development. Omar is currently a McKnight Doctoral Fellow and member of the USF Black Leadership Network. When not working or focused on his studies, Omar enjoys spending time with his family and friends, painting, and cooking and trying new foods.
