International Teaching Assistants Support Workshops 

Academic Culture and Communication (ACC) Series

Join with other ITAs from different departments in a series of six weekly workshops to learn more about how to be successful in the different TA roles (grading, office hours, running labs, and teaching). The topics covered are:  

  • Communication in US culture
  • US learning and teaching theories
  • Expectations of instructor and student behavior
  • Holding effective office hours / one-on-one interactions with students
  • Giving oral and written feedback to students
  • Dealing with sticky situations

Workshop Dates: Fridays, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: February 27, March 6, March 13, March 27, April 3, April 10

Speaking and Pronunciation Skills (SPS) 

Join with other ITAs from different departments to learn and practice how to develop pronunciation and speaking skills to help you communicate more effectively and comfortably. The workshops are delivered by graduate students from the Speech Pathology program, whose expertise is in helping people improve their speech.  

Workshop Dates: This is a 6-week workshop series. They occur in-person at PCD 1140 on the following Tuesdays, from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM:

Connections & Interactions with Undergraduate Students

Collaboration: 1-on-1 Practice with Speech Pathology undergraduate students

Meet individually with an undergraduate student from the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) for flexible conversation practice, scheduled around your availability.
