International Teaching Assistants Support Workshops 

Conversation Studio

Boost your communication skills and connect with fellow grad students.
Join the Conversation Studio—a welcoming space for lively conversations, new perspectives, and relaxed chats. 
We meet every Friday from 11:00 - 12:00 PM in the Graduate Student Lounge (ALN 209)
Drop in, speak up, and make connections! 

Academic Culture and Communication (ACC) Series

Join with other ITAs from different departments in a series of six weekly workshops to learn more about how to be successful in the different TA roles (grading, office hours, running labs, and teaching). The topics covered are:  

  • Communicating effectively in U.S. academic culture
  • Understanding U.S. learning and teaching approaches
  • Navigating instructor and student expectations
  • Holding productive office hours and one-on-one meetings
  • Providing clear oral and written feedback
  • Managing challenging or "sticky" situations

Workshop Dates: Fridays, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: October 16, October 23, October 30, November 6, November 13, November 20

Collaboration: 1-on-1 Practice with Speech Pathology undergraduate students

Meet individually with an undergraduate student from the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) for flexible conversation practice, scheduled around your availability.
