Professional Development

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)

USF is an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD). This organization is geared to promoting the success of under-represented groups, including women and faculty of color in the academy.

In addition to the resources available as an institutional member, the center also offers professional development training and intensive mentoring programs. Some programs are at cost to the individual, but there are many resources offered for free as a benefit of institutional membership.

Diversity and Inclusion Office

The Diversity and Inclusion Office is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive institutional diversity program and university-wide, multi-faceted inclusion and diversity initiatives to support the University's commitment to diversity, inclusiveness and equal opportunity. This site houses an abundance of resources, events, education, and training. 


Associations and Organizations

United Faculty of Florida (UFF)

The USF Chapter of the UFF consists of the UFF members at the three campuses of USF, and represents all USF faculty and professionals of the UFF USF Bargaining Unit in bargaining a contract — a Collective Bargaining Agreement — that determines the terms and conditions of employment at USF.

Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is the primary faculty advisory body to the University of South Florida President, Provost, and Vice President for Health on all matters that pertain to the academic climate of the university. The Senate has the responsibility to review and make recommendations to them considering decisions on all matters pertaining to the welfare of the University, focusing particularly on those pertaining to the academic mission.

Black Faculty and Staff Association

The mission of the USF-BFSA shall be to foster an environment of mutual support and respect for Black employees working at the University of South Florida. The USF-BFSA shall engage in such activities that will benefit the constituent members in the areas of social support and professional networking as well as in the areas of advocacy and representative action within the University and surrounding communities. The USF-BFSA recognizes the existence and supports the continued work of Black institutional organizations focused on matters of concern to Black faculty, staff and students at the University South Florida.

Sigma Xi

Sigma Xi was founded in 1886 to honor excellence in scientific investigation and encourage a sense of companionship and cooperation among researchers in all fields of science and engineering. Visit the Sigma Xi website to learn more about the USF Sigma Xi chapter send an email to sigmaxi@usf.edu.

Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL)

CITL provides faculty with resources and an environment to explore new and innovative ways to engage in learning and scholarship through open dialogue, research, feedback and reflection.

USF Libraries

USF Libraries inspire research, creativity, and learning by connecting the USF community to relevant and high-quality information. The USF libraries offer services to faculty related to instruction and teaching, learn more here.

Information Technology (IT)

USF IT provides technology services and support for USF, including campuses in Tampa (including USF Health), St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee. Over the past 20 years, USF has transitioned into a major research institution and was designated a "Preeminent State Research University" by the Florida Board of Governors in 2018, one of only three in the state.

Community Engagement

Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships (OCEP)

OCEP exists to expand and strengthen university-community engagement locally and globally through high-impact research and innovation and partnerships.

In relation to Faculty Success and support, OCEP can:

  • Provide you with resources for developing community engaged research and creative activities.
  • Assist you in developing community engaged teaching and learning, e.g., service-learning courses.
  • Help you find potential community partners and develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Support your community engaged research and teaching through our grant programs and grant search and proposal development services.
  • Provide you with resources for developing your Tenure & Promotion portfolio that incorporates your community engaged scholarship activities.
  • Assist you in linking your program evaluation and assessment expertise with community organizations.

The Parking and Transportation Services Department maintains the university's 20,000+ space parking system, including four parking garages and a 7-route transit system, which operates 7 days a week. The mission of the USF Ombuds Office is to empower your success by independently enabling informal, confidential and neutral resolution of workplace conflicts and concerns. Our professional services include identifying strategies and options to resolve and prevent workplace conflict, informal mediation, explanation of Regulations and Policies and a variety of initiatives to co-create the USF workplace of tomorrow.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The University of South Florida's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a service program designed to assist employees with personal, family, or workplace concerns/issues. A robust EAP program is an important component of any workplace community, and services are provided by Magellan Health Services, a national leader in behavioral health care.
