An update on space assignments and support services in preparation for Fall 2026

Dear Sarasota-Manatee Faculty and Staff,

As we continue planning for the next phase of the Sarasota-Manatee transition and teach-out process, we would like to provide an update on space planning and operational support for fall 2026.

The Operations Task Force, in partnership with USF Facilities, university leadership and the Teach-Out Task Force, has been actively developing a space utilization plan that prioritizes the academic and operational needs of our students, faculty and staff, while also supporting the shared occupancy with New College of Florida.

Maps outlining space assignments between USF and New College for the fall 2026 semester can be accessed here, and additional wayfinding resources are currently being created.

Conversations should be occurring between individual employees and supervisors/unit leaders about future space assignments. Over the coming weeks, representatives from USF Facilities will meet individually with faculty and staff who currently occupy dedicated offices to understand their assignments for the fall semester based on the teach-out plan and identified needs.

For any employees who are asked to move to a different space on the same campus or to a different campus for fall 2026, our goal is to complete those relocation activities by mid-August to ensure readiness for the start of the semester. To support a smooth transition, USF Facilities is coordinating moving services and will provide packing materials, including boxes, as well as assistance relocating belongings to newly assigned spaces. Additional logistical details will be shared directly with affected employees as plans are finalized.

Recognizing that our space needs will continue to evolve throughout the teach-out period, future space assignments will be evaluated and coordinated each semester in alignment with academic programming and operational requirements. As those updates occur, the maps will continue to be modified and information will continue to be shared with faculty and staff as appropriate.

In addition to space planning, the Operations Task Force is focused on ensuring continuity of critical services, including facilities operations, information technology support and auxiliary services. Because many aspects of the transition remain dynamic, we encourage you to regularly review the FAQ page, where important updates and process changes, including service request procedures, will be posted as information becomes available.

We understand that this period of transition brings some challenges. Throughout this process, our focus remains on supporting our students while providing our faculty and staff with the resources needed to continue your important work. If you have specific concerns or needs, please work with your supervisor so they can be communicated through the appropriate channels.
