Jane Roberts

Dr. Jane Roberts is the MSW Coordinating Chair and Professor of Instruction at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus where she also has chaired the Duvall Family Studies Initiative since 2009. Dr. Roberts teaches individual, family, and group practice in social work. She obtained a Ph.D. in gerontology at Virginia Tech; her subsequent research interests emphasize age bias and prejudicial views toward older people as well as familial and environmental influences upon caregiving. Recent work includes socio-cultural aspects of hoarding behaviors and attachment-related clinical treatment.

Her clinical and administrative career has included psychotherapy, hospice and hospital administration, and employment by the federal government as a Health Research Scientist, where she coordinated a multi-state study of Veterans with Alzheimer’s-type dementias.
