Jamie M. Clem, PhD, MSW is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the School of Social Work, College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida. Prior to working at USF, she served as the BSW Program Director at East Tennessee State University and as the Online BSW Program Coordinator at Northern Arizona University. Dr. Clem has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, an MSW, and a PhD in Social Work all from Florida State University. Her dissertation research looked at alcohol use and sexual/ gender-based trauma among college students. Dr. Clem has experience teaching across the curriculum at the BSW and MSW-levels both in-person and online.

As primarily a macro practitioner, she focuses on social, economic, and environmental justice. Her macro work includes community organizing, capacity building, and socio-political action.Dr. Clem’s work looks at the dynamics of power/privilege, wealth disparity, housing insecurity, and the exploitation and commoditization of people and the environment. Her direct practice interests and experiences are in crisis intervention, health, mental health, and substance abuse with specific attention on alternative treatments- including yoga, meditation, and psychedelic therapies.
