AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE (AAAS) MASS MEDIA SCIENCE AND
ENGINEERING FELLOWSHIP
This 10-week summer program places science, engineering, and mathematics students
at media organizations nationwide. Fellows use their academic training as they research,
write, and report today’s headlines, sharpening their abilities to communicate complex
scientific issues to the public.
AMERICAN MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY MASS MEDIA FELLOWSHIP (AMS-AAAS)
Fellows receive a stipend of US $8,000 for the summer, plus travel expenses to and
from AAAS and media outlets, to work for ten weeks during the summer months as reporters,
researchers, and production assistants in media organizations.

and Transport Systems (ECO-CBET)
Preliminary Proposal due September, Final Proposal due January - Supports highly interdisciplinary,
fundamental research that will enable the design of new materials, processes, and
systems to address environmental engineering and sustainability problems.
HUMAN NETWORKS AND DATA SCIENCE PROGRAM (HNDS)
HNDS supports research that enhances understanding of human behavior by leveraging
data and network science research; Identifying which dynamic, distributed, and heterogeneous
data can provide novel answers to fundamental questions about individual and group
behavior.
NATIONAL DEFENSE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS
RESEARCH ON THE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISE: INDICATORS, STATISTICS, AND METHODS
(NCSES S&T)
Supports using data on STEM to produce statistics and indicators about R&D activities
and the STEM workforce as well as develop new data and analysis methodologies.
SEMICONDUCTOR RESEARCH CORPORATION GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
The Graduate Fellowship program addresses the issues of improving educational opportunities
at the doctoral level and supplying a relevantly educated work force for the semiconductor
industry.
SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION FELLOWSHIPS
Graduate Fellowships allow students to conduct research for ten-week periods in association
with Smithsonian research staff members. Predoctoral, Postdoctoral, and Senior Fellowships
allow students to conduct research for periods of three to twelve months.
