Dean Philippidis Greets New USF President Limayem at Fulbright Celebration, where PCGS Student and Fulbright Scholar Tasnim Diana was recognized
The Dean of PCGS, Dr. George Philippidis, had the opportunity to greet the University of South Florida’s new president, Dr. Moez Limayem, during the 2026 Fulbright Celebration Breakfast. These show the need for international scholarships, academic partnerships, and cross-cultural collaboration, all values that Patel College teaches.

Science, Stewardship, and Climate-Smart Agriculture for a Changing World
Sustainable agriculture is about intentional decisions. That was the core message delivered by Dr. Ramdeo “Andy” Seepaul during the Patel College of Global Sustainability’s Sustainability Speaker Series. Dr. Seepaul challenged students to rethink sustainability as a deliberate balance between environmental stewardship, economic viability, and community well-being.

PCGS Host 2nd University-wide Sustainability Career Fair and Expo
On November 12, 2025, the Patel College of Global Sustainability hosted the second university-wide Sustainability Career Fair & Expo, in collaboration with USF’s Center for Career & Professional Development. Building on the success of the inaugural April event, the fair served as a pivotal opportunity for sustainability-focused students across campus.

Anthony Halcyon, Senior Environmental Scientist, shared his personal journey from protecting Florida’s water resources to joining global research expeditions in Montenegro, where he helped document one of the last wild rivers. He reminded us that conservation is about listening to people, understanding local realities, and finding shared solutions.

2nd Annual USF X UEL Cross-Atlantic Joint Sustainability Symposium
The MARS Project focuses on growing plants for food and human interface in controlled environments such as off-grid autonomous growing units on Earth, the International Space Station (ISS), and in Moon and Mars colonies. The MARS Project was conceptualized by Dr. Joseph W. Dorsey and conducted in conjunction with the University of East London (UEL).

Speaker Series - Dr deChant
On Wednesday, October 15th, the Sustainability Speaker Series featured Dr. Dell deChant, an instructor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of South Florida. Dr. deChant also leads the USF Food Sovereignty Group and works closely with the New Port Richey FarmNet, where he promotes sustainable, community-based food practices.
