Health Contests Spring 2021

Show your Bull spirit and promote risk-reduction of cold, flu, and COVID-19 through mask-wearing and hand washing. 30 winners will be selected per contest. Prizes include USF swag from Student Health Services (SHS), USF Health & Wellness, and Center for Student Well-Being (SWELL). Only registered USF students may participate. 

To participate, students post videos, pictures, or selfies on their Instagram and/or Facebook pages using hashtags #MaskOn and #USFSHS. Email a screen shot of your post to info@shs.usf.edu. Judges from SWELL, SHS, Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications, Center for Student Involvement, and/or Student Government will select winners. All submissions must be posted by 11:59PM on the last day of the event.

Students may post on both Instagram and Facebook, but can only win once per contest.

Create Your Own Mask!

Create your own mask and show us your creativity in protecting others! 

• Instructions: Either create a mask out of fabric, bandanas, or clothes, or decorate a pre-made mask. Some decorations could include fabric paints and markers, iron on patches strategically placed (that do not hinder breathing), sewing, and stamping. Post a photo of your completed mask and use the hashtags #MaskOn and #USFSHS. Send a screen shot of your posting to info@shs.usf.edu. If you want, you can create a 15 second video of you working on your mask.

• Double your chances by posting on both your Instagram and Facebook feeds. Only 1 of your posts will be selected. We will select 15 posts on Instagram and 15 posts on Facebook.  
• Dates: Submissions should be received by February 19, and judging will take place February 22 - 24. Winners will be announced February 25.
• Prizes: A gift bag of lip balm, sanitizer, and USF forehead thermometer as well as a reusable straw or USF t-shirt. A gift card of equivalent value may be substituted for those students currently living outside of the U.S.
• Judges: Jennifer DiPrete, Director of SWELL, Dr. Kimberly Walker, Professor of Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications, and an undergraduate student of Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications.

Horns Up for Hygiene

Show us your handwashing technique!  

• Instructions: Post a 20-30 second video of you thoroughly washing your hands on your Instagram and/or Facebook platforms. When posting the video, use the hashtags #MaskOn and #USFSHS. 
• Double your chances by posting on both your Instagram and Facebook feeds. Only 1 of your posts will be selected. We will select 15 posts on Instagram and 15 posts on Facebook.
• Dates: Submissions should be received between March 1 – March 12, and judging will take place March 15 - 17. Winners will be announced March 18.
• Prizes: A USF mask and mask adjuster. A gift card of equivalent value may be substituted for those students currently living outside of the U.S. 
• Judges: Jacqueline Wilkinson, Nurse and Quality Manager of SHS, Kathleen Koviak, Professional Health Educator with SWELL, and Sharon Benitez, undergraduate majoring in Pre-Med, Student Coordinator of SHS volunteer program, Green and Gold Guide.

Show Your Spirit with Prevention Bingo 

Show us your #MaskOn Bull selfies and activities! Show us how you keep yourself and others safe.

• Instructions: Post a picture of you wearing your mask on your Instagram and/or Facebook platforms. When posting the selfie of you wearing your mask, use the hashtags #MaskOn and #USFSHS. 
• Double your chances by posting on both your Instagram and Facebook feeds. Only 1 of your posts will be selected. We will select 15 posts on Instagram and 15 posts on Facebook.
• Dates: Submissions should be received between March 22 – April 2, and judging will take place April 5 - 7. Winners will be announced April 8.
• Prizes: A touchless tool with stylus. A gift card of equivalent value may be substituted for those students currently living outside of the U.S. 
• Judges: Courtney Deremiah, Associate Director of SWELL, Leadership of Center for Student involvement, and an undergraduate student from Student Government.
