Engineering students at the University of South Florida demonstrated creativity, technical
skill, and entrepreneurial thinking during Innovation Fest 2026, a student led event
organized by the USF Engineering Council on March 6.
The event brought together multiple competitions and showcases designed to highlight
the innovative work of engineering students across disciplines.

One of the most engaging moments of the day was Robo Mania, where student teams designed and built robots before competing in robot battles and robotic soccer matches in the Hall of Flags. The competition provided a hands on demonstration of mechanical design, electronics, and rapid problem solving.
Innovation Fest also featured LeetCode, a coding competition organized in partnership with the IEEE Computer Society and the Engineering Council. Students competed in a series of fast paced programming challenges, applying algorithmic thinking and software development skills in a competitive environment.
In the Solve the Startup Challenge competition, students worked in teams to analyze real engineering problems presented by Tampa based companies. Participants developed feasible technical solutions and pitched their ideas to industry judges, gaining experience in problem solving, communication, and innovation.
Another highlight of the event was a technology showcase where engineering student organizations presented innovative projects, prototypes, and technical solutions developed throughout the academic year.
Innovation Fest is organized by the USF Engineering Council, the governing body that represents engineering student organizations within the College of Engineering. Established in 2015, the council works to support student engagement, collaboration, and leadership across engineering disciplines.
Events like Innovation Fest highlight the strong culture of student innovation at USF Engineering, where students are encouraged to design, build, compete, and apply engineering solutions to real world challenges.
