New USF technology advances understanding of eye pressure and glaucoma
Using a first-of-its-kind wireless eye-pressure monitoring system, USF researchers uncovered new links between the brain, circadian rhythms and light exposure that may help regulate eye pressure. The findings offer new insight into one of glaucoma's most important risk factors and could inform future approaches to understanding and treating the disease.

Astronauts to test USF students’ wound-healing research aboard the International Space Station
To improve wound care in microgravity, a team of USF undergraduate students developed a wound-healing hydrogel that will soon be tested in space. Their project is scheduled to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center aboard the SpaceX CRS-35 mission, which will deliver supplies to the International Space Station as part of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.

First USF team of inventors advances to National Inventors Hall of Fame’s Collegiate Inventors Competition
The team has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious National Inventors Hall of Fame Collegiate Inventors Competition, taking place in Washington, D.C., October 13–15, 2026. Through a $3.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, USF researchers are collaborating with TECO to develop a digital twin — a virtual copy of the utility's power system. Using real-time data from TECO facilities, the computer model continuously mirrors real-world grid conditions.
