Central Human Resources Re-Opening Hours of Operation

Central Human Resources has temporarily modified our hours of operations on the Tampa Campus. 
 
To maximize the efficiency of the Central HR team, we will be temporarily modifying our hours of on-campus operations. Effective August 16, 2021, Central HR’s on-campus hours will shift to Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Virtual appointments are highly encouraged, but we will have limited staff available for walk-in meetings. Please use CHR’s MS Bookings pages to schedule an appointment, or visit https://www.usf.edu/hr  for additional information.

Right Start 

Right Start - Please continue to request a remote new hire packet by sending the new hire’s offer letter and their email address to rightstart@usf.edu. The packet can continue to be completed remotely with the assistance of an Authorized Representative and notary.


General information about Social Security Administration office 

The Social Security Administration offices are not fully staffed, they are not taking walk-ins for Social Security Numbers, appointments cannot be expedited; students must follow one of the processes outlined below.  This was sent to incoming graduate students via email weeks ago.  We are concerned that the delay with SSN could cause some issues with tuition waivers, insurance, etc. 

  • NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS/NEW to USA: 
    Students with a USF offer for a GA/RA/TA need to do these things in this order. 
    1. Complete Immigration Check in FIRST to get activated I-20 and SSN letter with instructions for making the appointment with the SSN office. 
    2. Call the SSN office. Give them a cell phone number since they will text the day and time.  NOTE: appointments are taking up to 3 weeks. We cannot expedite. 
    3. Go to your SSN appointment with all paperwork – as listed in the instructions sheets from OIS. 
    4. Complete the HR paperwork to get started with the job. 

  • NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS who get an on-campus job offer: 
    Do these things in this order. 
    1. Complete Immigration Check in FIRST to get activated I-20.  Tell advisor that you have an on-campus job offer.  They will give you the SSN letter with instructions for making the appointment with the SSN office.
    2. If already completed Immigration Check and get job later, complete the SSN Letter eform.  In 3 days, student will get SSN letter and instructions for making the appointment with the SSN office. 
    3. Call the SSN office. Give them a cell phone number since they will text the day and time.  NOTE: appointments are taking up to  3 weeks. We cannot expedite. 
    4. Go to your SSN appointment with all paperwork – as listed in the instructions sheets from OIS. 
    5. Complete the HR paperwork to get started with the job.
       
  • Current INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS who get an on-campus job offer: 
    1. Complete SSN Letter eform in iStart.  In 3 days, student will get the SSN letter with instructions for making the appointment with the SSN office.

    3. Go to your SSN appointment with all paperwork – as listed in the instructions sheets from OIS.
