Students at the University of South Florida are spending their summer developing tech-driven
solutions to improve the lives of older adults and their caregivers through a hands-on
program hosted by USF’s Center for Innovation, Technology and Aging.
The restoration of the historic Tampa Union Station is being shaped by USF from every
angle — led by School of Architecture and Community Design alumnus architect Jerel
McCants, who developed his love of preservation while a student at the university,
and guided by 3D scans produced by USF’s Access 3D Lab.
The Senator Darryl E. Rouson Center for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Research
at USF will conduct rigorous research to advance the scientific understanding of the
relationship between substance abuse and mental health issues, including improving
treatment outcomes and reducing the societal impacts of substance abuse and mental
health conditions.
USF’s historic invitation to join the Association of American Universities has taken
what many in Tampa Bay have once considered a “best-kept secret” to an unprecedented
new level. Being an AAU member is a tremendous milestone for USF as it formalizes
USF's position as a leading research university. USF is the first public university
in Florida to be invited to join the AAU in nearly 40 years and is now one of only
two institutions from the State University System of Florida to serve as an AAU member.
The University of South Florida will receive significant funding in Florida’s 2025-26
state budget, supporting major initiatives in research, student success and campus
development across all three campuses.
Technology developed at the University of South Florida offers a promising, privacy-preserving
tool to help clinicians diagnose and track trauma in kids, especially those too young
to express it.
