2024 E-Insights Report

Section 1: Economic Outcomes

The Economic Outcomes section serves as a comprehensive analysis of the region’s economic health and trajectory with two further subsections.

The data for various indicators were collected from the year 2012 through 2022 or the most recent year for which data is available. The data sources of these indicators include the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the Census Bureau.

Three charts are presented for each of the economic indicators. In the first chart, researchers present the snapshot of the indicator values for all the MSAs for three selected years between 2017 and 2022. The second and third charts highlight the indicator trend and competitive rank for Tampa Bay MSA over this time. In these two charts, the trend for other MSAs is shown in grey to show the comparison between different MSAs. To determine the competitive position of an MSA in a year, researchers rank-ordered the MSAs based on the performance of the MSAs on that indicator for each year. The best-performing MSA was ranked No. 1; the worst-performing MSA was ranked No. 20. Finally, key insights are presented for each indicator in the charts.

The findings are reported in two subsections. The first subsection examines Economic Competitiveness by examining key performance indicators such as personal income per capita, and household debt-to-income ratio. The second subsection on Inclusive Growth and Racial Equity examines the disparities within several economic indicators, across different demographics.
