Welcome Field Education Instructors

Welcome to our website at the University of South Florida's School of Social Work! We encourage you to explore our site and review all of our requirements and procedures concerning field education. The links below contain resources for Field Instructors that we hope you will find helpful as we partner to provide a first class field education experience to our students.

                                            Training In A Box

                                            Tuition Waiver

                                            The New Social Worker

The field program at the USF School of Social Work is responsible for administering the field practicum experience for BSW and MSW students. We accomplish this task by recruiting appropriate sites to be undergraduate or graduate placement opportunities for students and then recruiting, screening and training field instructors within the agencies. Community based field instructors are supported by University based Faculty Field Liaisons who ensure the quality of the program through face to face liaison visits and any additional support needed.

Individuals interested in supervising a USF Social Work Student must meet the following basic criteria:

  • BSW and/or MSW degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
  • Clinical license or license eligibility in Florida (MSW students only)
  • At least two years post degree experience
  • A minimum of one year of employment in an agency that has or is willing to establish a formal affiliation between the agency and the USF School of Social Work
  • Exhibition of high standards of professional values and ethics
  • Submission of a current resume to the Director of Field Education

On behalf of the School of Social Work students and faculty, we would like to stress how appreciative we are of you, our community based partners. Thank you for the important work that you do with our students! We hold in high esteem our relationship with you and we are always open to your feedback on ways that we can improve the program. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to offer feedback or clarify your questions or concerns.
