Yu Zhang Advances USF’s Engineering Reputation in Transportation & Aviation Research
Yu Zhang, Ph.D., professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at USF, is elevating the university’s reputation in transportation innovation. Her research spans aviation, urban mobility, and congestion reduction, earning accolades like the TRB Best Paper Award and publication in IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine. A Fulbright Scholar finalist, Zhang’s work explores Advanced Air Mobility, positioning USF as a leader in sustainable transportation solutions.
USF Engineering Professor Hao Zheng Awarded $599,493 NSF Grant
Hao Zheng, an associate professor in USF's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been awarded a $599,493 NSF grant for his innovative research on improving System-on-Chip (SoC) design validation. His work focuses on creating a communication-centric validation framework, leveraging advanced deep sequence modeling to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of these critical systems.
USF online graduate programs continue to rank among the nation’s best
According to U.S. News & World report, USF’s online graduate engineering program is ranked No. 53. according to the 2025 Best Online Graduate Programs rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report. USF’s highest-ranked program is inside the Top 20 among all public and private universities and another program improved by 24 places to break into the Top 50.

Professor Emeritus Richard Gitlin awarded IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal

Two University of South Florida faculty members named NAI fellows
