Being a Global Citizen
Operation: Global Action
Interdisciplinary | Transformative | High-Impact Practice
Taking place on USF's Tampa campus, Operation: Global Action (OGA) will provide all
USF undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in a week-long interdisciplinary,
immersive, and innovative experience focused on global issues. Students choose a Challenge
(global issue) and inquiry group based on their interest in the topic. With the other
members of their inquiry group and led by faculty and graduate students, undergraduate
students spend the week researching and developing a product to address the challenge/inquiry.
By the end of the week, groups will present their product and ideas.
Participating in this unique experience will be transformative for students and inspire them to take action. Literature has argued for the importance of high-impact practices, especially early in students' academic careers (AAC&U, https://www.aacu.org/resources/high-impact-practices). This program has the potential to increase retention rates and possibly other metrics associated with student success.
