Welcome to INTO USF’s promoted and new faces!
Things are changing at INTO USF — we've expanded with a total of eight new hires and three promotions since the New Year. These changes couldn't have come at a better time as our commitment to the University of South Florida and our students are deeper and stronger than ever.
Among familiar faces emerging into new roles are Academic Director of INTO USF Academic Programs Dr Jane Harvey; Assistant Director of Student Services Janna Eveland; and Admissions Manager Tony Eveland.
Jane has worked with INTO USF since its inception in 2010, teaching Academic English and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Originally from Wales, she has been an educator for over 30 years, working in the UK, Turkey and Italy.
Janna has been with INTO USF for four and a half years, beginning as a Special Programs Coordinator in both Student Services and Marketing. Janna sees her new role as Assistant Director of Student Services as both a passion and challenge. "I am overseeing a lot of the areas I held previously and more, but also have the added responsibility of overseeing the whole department," she says.
Tony began working at USF a year and a half ago as Admissions Specialist. His peers say his willingness to learn and ability to adapt quickly has served him well in his new role as Admissions Manager.
Over the years, the INTO USF Center has evolved into a positive environment of go-getters dedicated to student success . Our eight new team members complement this philosophy:
Caratonya Ford is INTO USF's new Executive Assistant. She supports INTO USF Center Director Dr Jason Beckerman; Dr Glen Besterfield, Assistant Vice President of International Admissions and Global Partnerships for USF; and the rest of the Executive Team. Caratonya previously spent 25-years in the military, working in the human resources field.
Matt Barrett joins INTO USF as the Marketing Recruitment Manager, with responsibility for the Caribbean region and Sub-Saharan Africa. Matt joins us from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL, where he spent the five years in their International Office, often sending students to USF after completing their Associate's degree.
Joining our Student Services team are Julaina Webber and Thea Scott.
Julaina is a recent graduate from USF with a degree in Public Health. Entering the team as the Wellness and Welfare Specialist, her role includes organizing and monitoring INTO USF's wellness programs.
Thea is our new Housing and Arrivals Coordinator. Her role is to help students solidify their housing and dining plans before arrival, as well as to ensure their safe arrival at campus from the airport.
New to the Pathway Program and Tutoring Center team are Todd Bursztyn, Brenae Hillard, Sarah McBride and Donna Rock.
Todd is the Testing Coordinator for INTO USF's Graduate Pathway Program. He works with INTO tutors and advisors to help graduate pathway students meet their GRE/GMAT score requirements.
Brenae joins us as Academic Advisor for the Pathway Program. Before joining INTO USF, she worked for the Jenkins Scholars Program, which provides scholarships and support to USF undergraduates. "It's quite a feat to travel abroad and earn a degree in a new language and culture. I enjoy being a resource for students in their journey to degree attainment at USF," she says.
Sarah, our other new Academic Advisor, prepares our international students for progression through the pathway program. She brings to USF experience as a Counselor at Yuba College and Career Advisor for the unemployed in Northern California.
Donna is our new Tutor Coordinator. Before working for INTO USF, she worked for Hillsborough County Schools in Tampa, Florida, at Riverview High School in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. There she helped prepare first-generation students from minority backgrounds for college.
Lastly, joining our Immigration Support Team is Caitlin Pike as Enrollment Management Specialist. She is a recent graduate of USF and studied abroad in the UK twice during her undergraduate career.
Since its launch in January 2010, INTO USF has grown from 13 full-time employees to a robust 95. INTO USF applauds our promoted staff and welcomes new members! The future is bright!
