Hege Riise
Hege Riise, Ph.D.,
Licensed Psychologist, Coordinator of Internship Program
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Languages in which I conduct therapy: English, Norwegian
My approach to therapy: I am an international, White, cis-gender woman who was born in Norway. I work with students in a collaborative and empowering approach, informed by the egalitarian values I grew up with in Norway. I prefer to build on your strengths using your values and goals as a guide for the work. I encourage the students I work with to be intentional about how they spend time in therapy so they can make the most of the time in session to prepare for the work you will do between appointments. I also invite laughter and humor into sessions, when appropriate, to balance out the challenging work we do. I enjoy working with students recovering from trauma; gender, sexual, and relationship minorities / LGBTQ+ folks; social justice, and women’s issues.
My approach to supervision: I utilize a developmental perspective (IDM) when providing supervision and training, aiming to meet the trainees where they are in their professional journey. The supervision I provide is grounded in professional competencies and tends to be process-oriented.
