What We Do

Committee on Diversity and Inclusion

Purpose:

The Committee on Diversity and Inclusion is an internal committee of the Counseling Center whose overall purpose is to promote awareness of and appreciation for individual and cultural differences. We see individual differences as including but not limited to gender expression or identity, ethnicity, race, nationality, age, religious or spiritual beliefs, sexual or affectional orientation, veteran, marital or socioeconomic status, physical ability, lifestyle or political ideology, or world-view or geographic differences.

Goals:

  1. Provide on-going training and opportunities for meaningful dialogue on diversity-related issues for Counseling Center staff and trainees in order to continue providing culturally competent clinical services to USFstudents.
  2. Collaborate and establish links with other university offices, individuals, and committees in support of university-wide diversity goals related to diverse populations.
  3. Investigate strategies and develop outreach programs for special populations, especially those who might be traditionally underserved by the Counseling Center and/or who might not otherwise seek counseling services.
