Benefits Request Overview
Military Funding
The Office of Veteran Success and Campus Partners facilitates processing and certification of approved benefits in accordance with federal and Department of Defense regulations.
Admitted students who have been approved for military funding through their branch of service or the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) should review the sections below to access education portals and submit funding requests. Eligibility for military funding (including Tuition Assistance and VA Education Benefits) is determined by the respective military branch or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, not the University of South Florida.
Submission Instructions
Once approved, submit your authorization form(s) to both Office of Veteran Succeess AND Third Party with your U#.
Students are responsible for ensuring all funding requests are submitted and approved prior to applicable deadlines each semester. Actual funding amounts and eligibility are determined by your branch of service. Delayed or missing documentation may result in cancellation or a balance due on the student account.
Tuition Assistance (TA)
The Tuition Assistance (TA) program is administered by each military branch and provides funding toward tuition costs. TA amounts per credit hour cannot exceed $250 per semester credit hour and $4,500 per fiscal year.
Current USF Rates: $105.07/credit hour for Undegraduate | Up to $250/credit hour for Graduate

Educational Dollars for Duty (EDD)
The Florida National Guard (FLNG) Educational Dollars for Duty (EDD) program is a State of Florida, legislatively directed and funded, education tuition assistance resource that is exclusively available to qualified Florida Army and Air National Guard Servicemembers to complete authorized postsecondary education opportunities that include vocational/technical, industry certification, continuing education and academic (i.e., certificate, associate, bachelor, and master) degree programs and support success completion of authorized professional license and industry certification exams. EDD may also reimburse approved book and instructional material costs. The EDD program is a State of Florida privilege, not entitlement that is always dependent on Servicemember qualification, available state appropriation and program law/directive as established by appropriate authority.

FAQ's
What if my program or class(es) is not listed in the portal to select for funding?
Please email the Office of the Registar with your U#, Branch, Semester you are requesting funding for, and Program/Class Details (Name of course and number of credits).
I have completed all of the paperwork as required by the military-funded program and/or received approval for funding, but I do not see the funding on my account. How do I know the funding has been applied?
Once you receive your approved funding document(s), please submit them to the Office of Veteran Success and Third Party teams for review and processing.
If additional information or corrections are required, you will be contacted via email. If everything is complete, the approved funding will be applied to your account and will appear in Student Self-Service as a Third Party Credit for the authorized amount.
What happens after I submit my funding documents and need to make a change to my schedule?
When you send your documents to both offices, you will receive an email confirmation that it was received. If additional information is needed, it will be provided via email. Please notify both offices about your class change(s).
The Office of Veteran Success will place a GB hold on your account. The GB Resgistration Restriction is a registration restriction placed on accounts of students who are using VA Education benefits, Educational Dollars for Duty (EDD), and/or Tuition Assistance (TA), or other military funding. It was created to prevent students from changing their class schedule after they have been certified or we receive their military-funding form.
Previously, students were making changes to their schedule after they were certified or submitted funding, which could impact their benefit/funding received. Our office has the permissions to add/lift this hold for students and provide communication to students when we lift their hold and how changes to schedule can impact their benefits.
