Event Funding

USF World Event Funding Application Guidelines

To further USF's  strategic goal to encourage international engagement and research, USF World offers contributing funds to support select faculty-directed events. Event funds are primarily dedicated as a faculty resource, however, student organizations may receive funding under exceptional circumstances and with faculty endorsement.

Competitive requests must demonstrate that the proposed activity is international in focus, research/scholarship related, and addresses at least one of the three goals of USF World:

  • Promote a global culture at USF
  • Globalize student success
  • Deepen global engagement

Appropriate events include: invited speakers, exhibitions, oral or poster presentations, seminars, symposia, conferences, or workshops. USF World is especially interested in supporting activities that reach a broad audience across the university community.

Please include the following items with the Event Funding Application Form:

  • A description or summary of the event and its contribution to the goals of USF World.
  • Applicable supporting documentation - such as letters of support, promotional materials, itineraries, or other relevant documents.
  • An itemized budget for the event.

USF World funding may be used for event expenses such as:

  • Printing
  • Room rental
  • Speaker honoraria and travel costs
  • Supplies
  • Advertising
  • Poster board rental

Funding may not be used for cash awards, award plaques, or for food and beverage.

All funding requests are reviewed by a USF World Review Committee. You should receive notification of the Committee's decision within 10 days after your complete application is  submitted. Funding will be awarded by means of a budget transfer to your home department.

Requests for funding may be submitted at any time, but must be received at least one month prior to  the date of the planned event. Submitting an application does not guarantee funding.
