Public Policy Internships
USF in DC Internship Program (USFDC)
For a meaningful academic experience, this internship program requires a significant amount of face-to-face interaction to meet the learning objectives of the program. Due to the current global pandemic, social distancing guidelines, and the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, the USF School of Public Affairs has decided to suspend all public policy internship programs for the 2020-2021 academic year, including USF in DC.
If there is an opportunity to offer this internship while keeping everyone safe in Spring 2021, the USF School of Public Affairs may reconsider offering the program next term.
USF in DC begins with an intensive course before students relocate to Washington, D.C. for the semester. The internship placements will be in Florida Legislative Offices in Washington, D.C.
Placements will be made based on the needs of each office and the interpersonal and academic skills of the students. Up to ten undergraduate juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.5 will be selected to participate. All majors and disciplines are welcome to apply.
Students that participate in USF in DC will receive a $5,000 scholarship from Research and Innovation. These funds are earmarked to cover the entire cost of housing. Housing is provided by Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) and coordinated by the Florida Institute of Government. This scholarship will not cover the cost of travel to and from D.C., local travel, food, or personal costs.
