First USF team of inventors advances to National Inventors Hall of Fame’s Collegiate Inventors Competition
The team has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious National Inventors Hall of Fame Collegiate Inventors Competition, taking place in Washington, D.C., October 13–15, 2026. Team NeuTrode will compete in the graduate category alongside five other teams selected from universities across the United States.
USF Engineering project with Tampa Electric helps advance next-generation power grid intelligence
Through a $3.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, USF researchers are collaborating with TECO to develop a digital twin — a virtual copy of the utility's power system. Using real-time data from TECO facilities, the computer model continuously mirrors real-world grid conditions.
