Souvenirs: Honors Travel Art Exhibition

Share the Story Behind the Journey
What does it mean to truly experience a place, and how do those experiences stay with someone long after returning home?
The most meaningful souvenirs are often the memories, perspectives, and personal growth gained through travel, and art is one way to make those experiences visible.
Each year, Honors students submit artwork created during or inspired by their travels with the University of South Florida to be featured in the Judy Genshaft Honors College’s Zimmerman Family Atrium during the week of the annual Tapas Night Study Abroad Expo.
The exhibition celebrates the many ways students process and reflect on travel experiences through creativity. Whether through photography, painting, sketching, writing, mixed media, or other artistic forms, each piece offers a unique perspective on the people, places, and communities encountered along the way.
Students do not need to be professional artists to participate. The Souvenirs Travel Art Exhibition welcomes creativity in all forms and encourages participants to experiment, reflect, and express what their experiences meant to them.
Why PArticipate?
Art can help students engage more deeply with their experiences abroad by encouraging observation, reflection, and interpretation. Creative work can also serve as a bridge between cultures, offering others a glimpse into what it feels like to experience a new environment firsthand.
By sharing their work, students contribute to a broader conversation about travel, cultural exchange, and global learning within the Honors community.
