Bull Haul Welcome Wagon

7-23-20 UPDATE: The Bull Haul Welcome Wagon program has reached capacity and the registration form has been closed. If you submitted an application and know you can complete the requirements (online training and working your shift) you can expect to participate! Volunteers will receive more information regarding training, placements, and shift assignments in the coming days. 


The Bull Haul Welcome Wagon is a USF Grand Opening Move-In experience where individuals volunteer to assist in the Grand Opening process and welcome students to campus. Show that you are driven to help out your fellow Bulls by contributing to our campus community where it is the Best place to Live, the Best place to Work, and the Best place to Learn. We are only accepting 120 students for this initiative, so if you want to participate, apply now!


What will Bull Haul Welcome Wagon volunteers do?

  • Bull Haul Welcome Wagon volunteers will complete one 5-hour volunteer shift on any day from August 17 – 20.
  • During their shift, volunteers will be preparing campus for move-in and/or assisting with the move-in process by distributing and sanitizing carts at designated locations around campus. More details will be provided in the online volunteer training!

What are the requirements for this position?

  • A positive attitude and willingness to help
  • Completion of online training requirements by August 13
  • Completion of one 5-hour volunteer shift

What else do I need to know?

  • Volunteers will not enter residence halls and will not handle or unload student belongings.
  • If you are participating in the Bull Haul Welcome Wagon as a volunteer, you will move in on August 15. You must submit an early arrival request form, located in the housing portal, where you will indicate the time slot you would like to arrive.
  • Early arrival fees for Bull Haul Welcome Wagon volunteers will be waived upon the completion of the program.

Move-In Information for volunteers

EARLY ARRIVAL

Early arrival move-in is available on Sunday, August 15 at no cost for Bull Haul Welcome Wagon volunteers. Early arrival fees for Bull Haul Welcome Wagon volunteers will be waived upon the completion of the program. 

Bull Haul Welcome Wagon Volunteers must submit an early arrival request form, located in the housing portal, where they will indicate what time slot (8 a.m. – 12 p.m., 12 – 4 p.m., or 4 – 8 p.m.) they would like to arrive on Sunday, August 15. 


HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

As the university prepares to safely welcome students back to campus, Student Health Services will conduct a brief COVID-19 health screening of all residents as the first step in their check-in process. Please check back for additional details soon.

The university strongly encourages everyone to be vaccinated. The State of Florida has made vaccines widely available to everyone medically eligible. COVID-19 vaccines will be available to students free of charge on campus, though we encourage all residents to return to campus fully vaccinated to reduce the risk of spread. Face coverings are not required for fully vaccinated individuals. Face coverings are recommended for unvaccinated individuals, although not required.


4 STEPS TO MOVING IN

STEP 1: SELECT YOUR MOVE-IN APPOINTMENT TIME

Bull Haul Welcome Wagon Volunteers must submit an early arrival request form, located in the housing portal, where they will indicate what time slot (8 a.m. – 12 p.m., 12 – 4 p.m., or 4 – 8 p.m.) they would like to arrive on Sunday, August 15.

STEP 2: GO TO YOUR UNLOADING ZONE & CHECK IN

Arriving on Campus

As indicated above, Bull Haul Welcome Wagon Volunteers will indicate their desired arrival time slot in the early arrival request form submitted through the housing portal. You will arrive on campus on Sunday, August 15 during your scheduled move-in time slot and receive your keys at your service desk (locations are listed below.) Please note that  students cannot check in outside of their move-in appointment time on these dates. 

Parking and Checking In: August 15

When you arrive on campus on August 15, make your way to the designated unloading zone for your area (locations listed below.) Once you have parked, please proceed to the service desk for your area where our team will be ready and waiting to check you in and provide your key(s). You must have your USF ID or a government-issued ID to check in. When you check in, you will be given a bag and your Bull Haul Welcome Wagon shirt. This is what you will wear during your shift, so don’t forget it!

Service desk locations and unloading zones open  on August 15 for each residence hall are listed below.

  • The Village (Beacon, Endeavor, Horizon, Pinnacle, Summit)
    Residents of these halls will check in at the HUB service desk
    30-minute unloading zones and daily parking will be available in Lot 56, 16, 35, 25, 5E, 17A, and 17B. Additional parking is available in Crescent Hill Parking Garage.

  • Beta, Castor, Cypress, Holly, Kosove, Maple, and House 5 & 12 Residents
    Residents of these halls will check in at Holly M
    30-minute unloading zones and daily parking will be available in Lot 56, 16, 35, 25, 5E, 17A, and 17B. Additional parking is available in Crescent Hill Parking Garage.

  • Juniper, Poplar, and Magnolia Residents
    Residents of these halls will check in at the Juniper-Poplar Lobby
    30-minute unloading zones and daily parking will be available in Lot 24, Lot 47A, and the Beard Garage.


Parking and Checking In: August 16-18

If you are unable to arrive on August 15, you may request to arrive later. When you arrive on campus on August 16-18, make your way to the designated unloading zone for your area (locations listed below.) Once you have parked, please proceed to the service desk for your area where our team will be ready and waiting to check you in and provide your key(s). You must have your USF ID or a government-issued ID to check in.

Service desk locations and unloading zones for each residence hall are listed below.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The HUB service desk will only be open August 15. If you are living in the Village and checking in on August 16-18 or 21-22, you will check in at the Holly M service desk.

STEP 3: MOVE IN YOUR BELONGINGS

There will be signs indicating 30-minute unloading zones within the parking lots listed above.  After you unload your items, please move your vehicle to a non-unloading space for the remainder of your time on campus.

Additional Parking Information
You will not need a parking permit while moving in, but please avoid parking in numbered, reserved, or otherwise labeled parking spaces. Parking in disabled spaces without a valid state disabled permit, in reserved, numbered, and labeled spaces, in unloading zones longer than 30 minutes, in unauthorized lots, or in “no parking” zones at any time is subject to warning/citation. Parking information will be clearly marked and designated with signage throughout the campus. Routine parking enforcement resumes on Monday, August 23. Residents should be sure to register their car for a parking permit before August 23.

STEP 4: LIVE THE BULL'S LIFE!

After completing your move-in, you will be ready to live the Bull’s life!  Remember to: 

  • Use your time on campus to relax and settle in before your volunteer shift later in the week.
  • Thank your family and friends who helped you move in!
  • If you brought your car, move it to a designated ‘R’ parking lot. Please park away from unloading zones until Monday, August 23, as a courtesy for your fellow Bulls moving in after you. 
  • Review important Return to Campus information here.
  • Check your USF email for important information regarding your room and keys.
  • Get to know your Resident Assistant and Residence Life Coordinator.
