My name is Dr. Lashley Marks and I am a licensed psychologist at the USF Counseling Center. I would be excited to have the opportunity to come alongside you and be a part of your journey toward health.
A little more about me, I was raised in the Tampa Bay area and I am proud to be able to give back to this community. I have close ties to the area through my family. I'm the oldest of my 4 siblings and love spending time, traveling, and enjoying good music with them. I had the opportunity to live in Virginia for graduate school, then traveled to the Midwest for 1 year, where I gained experience serving in under-resourced areas. As a therapist, I strive to provide an environment where clients know they are always accepted and supported. My style is primarily focused on helping you find the skills that you can use to cope with various struggles and distress. I often use cognitive-behavioral as well as acceptance and commitment strategies to help you incorporate the coping skills you need to bring you closer to living your most fulfilling life.
Clinical Interests: I have particular interests in anxiety and depression, couples concerns, health, inattention, and have been trained in integrating mental health with issues of faith. My internship in a VA provided me with experience in working with military populations and those suffering with PTSD. I am honored to be able to work with those who may not otherwise be able to seek therapy, such as those who may not have the resources or support to pursue therapy before now.
Approach to Supervision/Training: Competency-based approach, offering encouragement and support as trainees strive toward becoming effective mental health providers
Affiliation & Roles: Clinical Services Coordinator, Co-chair of the Brightside Crew (center's morale committee), and a member of the Clinical Services and Research and Data workgroups.
