ABOUT MY RESEARCH

My interest in combining geospatial technologies (e.g., Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing) with oceanographic knowledge for transdisciplinary themes including ocean color Remote Sensing and coastal water quality and pollution. During my PhD research in the lab of Dr. Chuanmin Hu, I would like to explore the use of remote sensing imagery in marine applications, such as monitoring algal blooms, climate change, and anthropogenic influence on water pollution.

WHY USF CMS?

I chose to apply to the program of physical oceanography at the University of South Florida because it is one of the few universities that not only provides extremely professional sensor systems in marine remote sensing (e.g., the Sargassum Watch System) as an important data source for marine scientific research, but also because it has numerous research teams that I know would allow me to grow as a researcher, conduct transdisciplinary research, and achieve my long-term career goals.
