Please select your term to view your hall closing date & time and review the additional information on this page.

 

Summer A

  • The residence halls will close for Summer Session A at noon on Saturday, June 22.
  • Residents can check out at the The Hub 24-hour desk from 9 a.m. - noon on Saturday, June 23 (this is also the check-out location for students leaving earlier).

Summer C

  • The residence halls will close for Summer Session C at noon on Saturday, July 20.
  • Residents will check out at the The Hub 24-hour desk.
  • Residents with an active fall assignment who wish to stay on campus until the residence halls open for fall must read the Break Stay section for additional instructions.

Summer AB / B / SSS / Bulls to Business

The residence halls will close at noon on Saturday, August 3.

  • South campus residents will checkout at the Juniper-Poplar Hall desk or Juniper-Poplar 1317 (please follow posted directional signs).
  • North campus residents will checkout at The Hub 24-hour desk (please follow posted directional signs).

Residents with an active fall assignment who wish to stay on campus until the residence halls open for fall must read the Break Stay section for additional instructions.

ACE Program

  • Residents with an active fall assignment are pre-approved for break stay.
  • If residing in the same room for the fall, no further action is required for break stay.
  • If residing in a different room on campus for fall, you are required to move to your fall assignment on Saturday, August 3.
    • If you are moving to a building being used for the summer (Beacon, Cypress D, Holly D, Juniper, Magnolia, Maple A, Poplar), you will move from 3 – 6 p.m.
    • If you are moving to a building not being used for the summer, you will move from 9 a.m. – noon. You will turn in your summer housing assignment key(s) at the desk serving the side of campus where you currently live and pick your fall housing assignment key(s) at the desk serving the side of campus where you will live for the fall semester.
  • If you are not residing on campus for the fall, you must complete check out of your hall by noon on Saturday, August 3.

 

General Closing Information

  • Remember to take your bicycle with you when you leave. Abandoned bicycles will be removed.
  • All trash must be removed and taken to the designated trash sites. Ask your RA for the location of the designated site in your area. There will be a charge for trash left in rooms, suites, or common areas.
  • You are responsible for removing discarded furniture and carpet from campus. These items may not be thrown in the dumpsters. Failure to cooperate with removal of these items from campus will result in a $50 hauling fee per item charged to the owner.

 

Check-Out Procedure

  • Sign up for a check-out time with your RA at least 48 hours prior to when you wish to check out.
  • Please remove all personal belongings from your room prior to check-out time.
  • Please return all furniture to its original position (There is a $25.00 charge to re-assemble or move furniture).
  • Please remove posters, tape/decals and residue, nails, hooks, etc. from walls, windows and mirrors.
  • Please clean your room and/or apartment thoroughly. Clean and defrost refrigerator and clean stove and other appliances in the apartment if applicable.
  • Please remove trash and sweep/vacuum the floor. Common areas must be cleaned each time a member of the living unit checks out, otherwise cleaning charges will apply - regardless of who is responsible for clean up.
  • Please set the air conditioning to 72 degrees and keep your blinds open when you leave. Failure to set the AC unit to the indicated temperature may lead to dampness in the room.
  • At the Juniper/Poplar, The Hub, or Holly M desk, turn in your room key(s) and any temporary access cards or keys you have checked out.

 

Campus Mail

  • If you are vacating your hall, please remember to complete the Mail Forwarding Address form in the Profile Information section of the Housing Portal.
  • If you are transitioning or returning for fall, your mail/packages will be routed to your respective mailpoint for fall, if applicable.
  • If you are not returning and you fail to change your address in the Housing Portal, your mail/packages will be returned to sender.
  • Please update your address on OASIS before leaving as other offices at the university will use this address to send you information over the summer.

 

Lost/Damaged Key Charges

Core Change: $50/core
Key Replacement: $15/key
Temporary Access Card: $15 if not returned
Key Tag: $10/damaged or unreturned tag
Bent/Broken Key: $6

Note: Lost key charges will vary based on your residence hall location. You will be responsible for all keys that need to be reissued to roommates and suite/apartment mates.

 

Additional Charges

  • An Improper Check-Out charge of $100.00 will be assessed if you fail to check out with an RA/CM. Other applicable damage, hauling, lost key, and cleaning charges may apply if you fail to check out of your room/apartment.
  • Room Damage Charges will be assessed by your RA/CM at check-out, and confirmed by your RLC/ARLC after check out. All damages will be documented on your Room Condition Report (RCR) and charges will be tentatively determined upon move out. Official confirmation of charges will be emailed to your USF email account.

 

Break Stay (for Summer AB / B / C / SSS / Bulls to Business residents only)

Staying in the same space in the fall

Sign up for Break Stay in the Housing Portal by Wednesday, July 24 at noon (Wednesday, July 10 at noon for summer C residents) to remain in your room through the break and into the fall term. The nightly rate for your room type will be calculated and applied to your account as a single charge (not including costs for summer AB, B, or C). Break Stay forms completed after 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 (12 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 for summer C residents) are subject to a $100 late processing fee. If you are in a double occupancy room and are not moving out, make sure your room is clean and ready to welcome your new roommate. Please ensure that the spaces for your new roommate are clean and clear. Housekeeping may need to enter your space to clean the empty areas for an incoming roommate, where applicable.

Staying in a building currently used for summer (Beacon, Cypress D, Holly D, Juniper, Maple A, Magnolia, Poplar)

  • Residents who will be living on the south side of campus in the fall will pick up their key(s) at the Juniper-Poplar desk or Juniper-Poplar 1317 (please follow posted directional signs).
  • Residents who will be living in The Village in the fall will pick up their keys from The Hub 24-hour desk.
  • Residents who will be living on the north side of campus in the fall will pick up their key(s) at Holly M or Holly L (please follow posted directional signs).

Before 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, you will turn in your summer housing assignment key(s) at the desk serving the side of campus where you currently live:

  • Residents currently living on the south side of campus will turn in their key(s) at the Juniper-Poplar desk or Juniper-Poplar 1317 (please follow posted directional signs).
  • Residents currently living in the Village will turn in their key(s) at The Hub.
  • Residents currently living on the north side of campus will turn in their key(s) at Holly M or Holly L (please follow posted directional signs).

 

Staying in a building not being used for summer (All buildings, except Beacon, Cypress D, Holly D, Juniper, Maple A, Magnolia, Poplar)

Sign up for Break Stay in the Housing Portal by Wednesday, July 24 at noon (Wednesday, July 10 at noon for summer C residents) to move into your fall room on Saturday, August 3.

The nightly rate for your room type will be calculated and applied to your account as a single charge (not including costs for summer AB, B, or C).   • Residents currently living in the Village will turn in their key(s) at The Hub
  • Residents currently living on the north side of campus will turn in their key(s) at Holly M or Holly L (please follow posted directional signs).
