Sarasota-Manatee Annual Funding Process

Each year Departments and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) need to submit budgets for annual funding.

WHAT IS CAFC?

CAFC, or the Campus Allocation Funding Committee, is comprised of a minimum of 3 USF student voting members, 2 alternate USF student members, 1 USF student non-voting member, and 2 USF non-voting staff members. You can refer to Student Government’s Statutes to see a more detailed list of these members and their roles.

The purpose of CAFC is to, through a fair and viewpoint neutral process, prepare the annual budget bill for the Activity and Service Recommendation Committee. This annual budget consists of Student Success Departments and student organizations across the Sarasota-Manatee campus. These entities are funded through the Activity and Service (A&S) fee. This fee is paid by every student as a $7.00 flat fee and $25.54 per credit hour, per semester. The A&S fee Supports student governing boards, programs, and student organizations to improve services directly related to student activities. These services include but are not limited to: the USF Homecoming Week, USF Recreation and Wellness, the Student Commons, and USF Week of Welcome. Student Government, through the annual and interim process, allocate these departments and student organizations based off standards created by Student Government. Florida Statute 1009.24 states that Student Governments across Florida will allocate the student Activity and Service fee.

DATES TO REMEMBER

  • Fall Semester: Annual Budget form available for Registered Student Organizations (RSO) and Departments
  • Fall Semester: Mandatory RSO and Department budget workshops. The format of these workshops will be determined by Student Government each year. 
  • Third Friday in December by 5pm (EST): Department budgets are due to CAFC
  • Fourth Friday of the Spring Semester by 5pm (EST): RSO budgets are due to CAFC
     

BUDGET WORKSHOPS

Student Organization members MUST attend or participate in a workshop in order for their RSO to receive A&S funding. The workshop formating will be determined by CAFC each year.

 

DEPARTMENT BUDGET PRESENTATIONS AND TRAINING

Department members MUST attend a workshop in order for their Department to receive A&S funding. Additionally, they will work with CAFC to set up a presentation during the Annual Funding process. Workshops and presentation formats will be determined by CAFC each year.

All SG meetings are currently held in the Student Government Microsoft Team and are open/accessible to the USF community.

SG Team: To have access to all channels for a wide variety of meetings

Annual Funding Channel: To get direct access to the Sarasota-Manatee funding channel where all the workshop meetings will be held.
