The Student Government Supreme Court on St. Pete campus serves to interpret the constitution and governing documents when a controversy or question arises and helps assign proper action when Student Government Law is misinterpreted or violated.
The Supreme Court is comprised of six student justices and led by the Chief Justice.
All justices are selected by the Student Government President with the advice and consent of the Senate. When a selection is made, the candidate must appear before the Senate Committee on Policy. If the committee confirms the appointment, the candidate must then appear before the entire Senate for confirmation. Once confirmed the candidate is sworn in as an Associate Justice and begins to serve a term of up to two years. The court elects from within their ranks a ranking Justice (Second-in-command).
